Ironically I am now getting called Justin or the Biebs at work. It is kind of refreshing because some people are genuinely confused as to why my name is suddenly Justin, as they are not in on the joke.

We all come to the table with our own background and biases. Few are as self-aware to note them, though.

Thanks for your feedback! I am actually in a similar boat in the sense that I am a trans man but I consider myself more just on the transmasculine spectrum. The categories are definitely flawed, as with any labeling system, but I just wanted to give a background for those who are completely unaware of trans* issues/vocab.

I think the categories are porous. So I am a trans woman, and just a wee bit genderqueer.

I look forward to a day when people are not trying to assign labels to others or put them in boxes. And, you’re right that you shouldn’t have this much Bieber in your life. Great way to spin the stereotype in a way that will generate discussion about gender expression!
